Preschool Science Fair

Yep, we went to our first science fair - for preschoolers at Colin's school. "What in the world is a 3 year old going to do at a science fair?" was my reaction. I was going back and forth about going (because it was from 6:30-8:00pm)...but in the end, we went... and it was so much fun! They had some great ideas for preschoolers to explore science concepts:
  • Sink or Float. Predict if certain items would sink or float.
  • Change of colors. Cups of colored water. Use an eyedropper and if you mix two colors, what color does it make?
  • Make homemade playdoh with kool-aid mix.
  • What sticks? Three options to stick paper onto paper - water, water + salt, and water + flour. Predict and experiment.
  • Magnets. Predict what objects will stick.
  • Downhill tracks with different objects. Which objects will roll down fastest?
  • Sheet and lights. Make different shapes with your shadows.
  • And some other ones with soil - but we skipped those!

They had a passport and kids got a stamp after finishing each station. We absolutely love his school for exactly this reason - so creative, fun and educational. And we spent the time catching up with his teachers, other teachers who know Colin by name, and meeting new friends in his class. What a great way to end the day!

I am so glad you decided to go...What a great start for Colin to be in this school. I'm sure Colin really enjoyed it! He's so into learning everything.
Wish I could have gone with Colin too.
