Enjoyed a perfect-weather weekend. Trying to squeeze every bit of sunny weather out of this summer season! Spent most of the time at home and just having some good ol' family time. Nothing big.
Justin climbs up playground structures all on his own and loves slides. He is so proud and usually pushes away anyone trying to help him.
Colin loves a good slide, too.
Our friends went on vacation and let us pick up their co-op farmer's share. It was amazing! All veggies are organic, your bundle is a surprise each week, and it's super supportive of local farmers. A family share is everything in the pic below + another big bag of potatoes. (12 ears of corn, 6 peaches, 8 tomatoes, 1 canteloup, 1 watermelon, bag of green beans, box of cherry tomatoes, box of chilis, onion, 2 green peppers, 1 mini squash, about 15 potatoes.) We're considering joining the co-op next season!
Justin practicing his pose. He wanted to see each picture I took, and then wanted to take another!
And this is how we ate our picnic dinner in our own backyard this weekend.
my boys.
And to end our weekend, we had a visit from our squirrel. Colin has affectionately named it "Cookie." (any squirrel in our backyard = "Cookie is here to visit us again.") Yes, whenever we fill our birdfeeder, Cookie can be found scaling our window screen to get into the bird seeds.
And for some of our favorite moments.
----
Colin: "That's an upstairs attitude. If you want to keep doing that, you can do that upstairs." Talking to Justin as Justin is having a tantrum.
----
Colin: "Look mom, I taught Justin this."
Justin: "CHOO! CHOO!" as he pumps his arms.
Colin absolutely loves to teach Justin new words and Justin loves to learn. Works out quite well.
----
As I put Colin to bed one night, I told him good night and closed the door.
Colin: "But mom, I have so many more words to say."
----
Affectionate Justin. Justin has become so much more affectionate lately. At school, his teachers tell us that he runs back and forth between them giving hugs. And at home, he loves to give us hugs and kisses. On the phone, if he hears "i love you," he'll even kiss the phone!
----
Jack gave Justin beer and Justin wanted more.
----
When the boys run into each other at school, they stop and give big hugs to each other! Makes mama happy!
----
Colin: Mom, I want a baby sister.
Me: Well, we have to ask dad about that.
Colin: Will it grow in my belly?
Me: No, it would grow in mommy's belly.
Colin: (huge tantrum) That's not right! That's not nice! Why can't it grow in my belly!! I want a baby in my belly!!! That's not nice, mommy. Boys want babies too!!
----
After my mom told me that she was visiting my sister in Hawaii, I had Colin call her.
Colin: Bachan, when are you coming to our house?
Bachan: We'll see you in December
Colin: No, when are you coming to OUR house?
Bachan: You want me to come?
Colin: Yes!
Bachan: Okay, I'll come visit you.
Colin: (huge smile) Mom!! Bachan said she's going to come to our house.
Me: Good job, Colin!
Bachan: JAMIE!!!!!!!!
