an Aunt Natalie weekend

We spent the long weekend visiting Natalie (Bethesda, MD).

After a long 7 hours in the car, we arrived. Natalie quickly took the kids and had a cold beer and a sangria waiting for Jack and me. Perfect start to the weekend.
Thought that this picture captured how territorial Colin is getting. This is Colin's idea of how to keep Justin away from his toys. Good idea ...well, except that Justin can't read.
Oh, the train. How the boys love trains. We rode the Metro to the zoo and the boys loved every minute of it.
After the zoo, we went to get frozen yogurt. I've heard lots about these places, but never visited one - well, until now. A whole wall of your choice of frozen yogurt - amazing. For me, the topping bar just makes the whole experience worth it. They even had mochi balls!

Natalie and Colin finished their bowls and started distracting the rest of us.
But nobody could distract Justin. Yes, two spoons. And when those weren't working to his satisfaction, he used his hands to scoop out more yogurt covered toppings.
We spent a lot of time just relaxing and the house. The boys and the kitty played together nicely - taking turns chasing each other.
Reading time with Aunt Natalie, queen of finding the best kids books.
We also headed out to a puppet show for kids. It was at this amazing park with all kid-related things. An outdoor kids-discovery area, carousel, puppet auditorium, park area, pottery, train, and this amazing playground structure. That's Colin climbing up the front of the car.
Natalie has great parks near her. We took a short hike to this river...which was perfect for throwing rocks and walking through the water.
After 3 wonderful days, we headed home. And we kept ourselves occupied with some art projects in the car...
Me: Colin, what was your favorite part of the weekend
Colin: Playing with Aunt Natalie. And hugging her.

Aunt Natalie, thank you for letting us turn your house upside down & eat all of your delicious homemade food. Thank you for taking the kids for morning duty, and watching the kids while Jack & I went out for date night. Oh, and I can't leave out a big thank you for our time out enjoying daiquiris and pina coladas and being there to help me recover from said drinks. You spoil us, and if Colin had his way, he'd "build a house in your backyard" for us to live in. I'm sure you would love that. haha. =)
